Evening Paint Job

After talking with my Mom, I got motivated to paint some more this evening.

I filled in the spots I had left blank.  I'll be getting the ladder out tomorrow.

I couldn't stop once I got going.  It's seriously addicting to watch the nasty colors get covered up.

I did the necessary gardening to expose what I needed to.  I've got one more layer of tiles to paint.  Eventually I'm thinking I'll plant some shade loving flowers or herbs here maybe just to make it prettier.

It looks so normal now.

Ugh.  It looks worse than it really is.

Hopefully I'll be able to reach most of this section with the ladder and won't have to wait for Derrick to finish it up.

Those plastic pipes will be going away hopefully.

I found a piece of tile in the dirt where I was painting.  Could it be?

It is!  It is!  I can attach that back where it goes now and then find the other little pieces.

Starting out early

I started working early today.

Painted the pipes and moved on past the kitchen window.  Sadly the ropes on the right hand side must stay until the sump pump can have a proper hole dug.

Painting the wires and pipes makes a big difference.

I can't believe how dingy this side of the house is.

Of course there would be gardening work require to paint this side.  ugh, sawing through gigantic vine things is not fun.

This water spigit is not functional at all.  I'll be removing it and all the plastic tubing that runs to it.  There's a faucet at the end of this side of the house that is also not functional.  They both run on ditch water, which is not the water source we use.

Outside painting time

Charlie helped too by taking out every toy he owned to find the perfect rawhide chip.  Then he plopped down on top of all the toys to chew on it.

That's as far up the wall as I can reach for now.  We'll have to remove the cover to the basement stairs and make a platform or something for the ladder to sit on so I can do the rest.  I tried the extendable ladder, but couldn't get close enough to reach.

I made it to the window though.

The old cover that will have to be replaced before I can go any further up the wall.

It's looking good despite the minor hang-up.

I reattached some of the house shingles today.  Makes a big difference when you can't see the tar paper behind them or the bare wood of the frame.

Maybe tomorrow I'll work on this section...

I'm not lazy anymore

Did a little more work on the above the door section.  It looks so much better

I started on tomorrow's project too.  The goal is to paint to the window on the right hand side of the photo.

Making headway and looking better already.

Sadly I might have to wait to get the pipe painted, we'll have to see how acrobatic I'm feeling tomorrow.

This is what happens when the propane guys are careless.  I've painted it for now, but I'll be hiring our friend to cut a replacement piece of something to cover the exposed wood.

Back on the wagon

 So here's where we are.  I've taken a nice little mini-vacation from my vacation.  Been hard to get motivated, but that's going to change.  I really need to get cracking on this since there's a ton of stuff to finish outside before the weather gets damp.

The bottom half of the unit is done, aside from the kickboard.  The top half facing has one coat of paint.

As you can see, it's a huge difference and makes the room quite nice now.

Got another spot to do some patch/paint on as well as one more coat on the door.

The same spot needs to be finished and the skirting for the sink needs to be attached.

I did finally get the last window on this side painted and the screen reattached.

Started making some progress on here.  The most notable thing would be the almost invisible pipes.

So much better with the pipes painted to match the siding.

Since I'm still off this week and next week, I'm going to take advantage of the time.  I have a huge list of things to do and while I have enjoyed hiding in the 9th century doing family history stuff, I need to get to work on my own castle.

• Paint the side of the house up to the kitchen window.
• Paint the kitchen window and screen
• Finish last bits of drywall patching
• Finish painting the walls in laundry room
• Finish painting the trim in laundry room
• Finish cabinet unit thingy
• Paint laundry room ceiling
• Organize the shelves with smaller boxes from garage
• Curtains for laundry room
• Curtains for extra bedroom
• Figure out what to do about the basement stair's cover
• "Fix" the cracked tiles with more caulking
• Call Derrick to arrange to have sections that can't be caulked patched with wood.
• See if Derrick can fix the lawn mower
• Finalize the budget for October
• Patch holes in the patio
• Buy a new lock for back door
• Finish the gigantic pile of mending I have in the other room

Garage door

Mark decided that the garage door had to be painted today since it made the house look like a dump.

I started scraping off all the old nasty paint

Opted for red paint

It's not perfect, but is a temporary fix for the problem.  I still have some touch-ups to do
