Introduction to the world

This has been an on-going project that my husband and I started together almost two years ago.  There have been some huge changes since then, almost all of them for the best.  Our improvements on our little home started small and have gotten bigger and bigger as we've learned more.

To start the journey, I moved into his house in the fall of 2010.  It was in dire need of some much needed TLC, color, decorations, and just general cheer.

The original house plans are from 1951 despite the fact that our house was built in 1956.  Sometimes you just can't improve on perfection (at least for us).  More information can be found here Midcentury Home Style.  there are a few slight changes that were made to our home during construction, such as a back patio (now a laundry room) that prevents the wrap around style kitchen from existing; the lack of a coat closet in the living room; the stairs to the basement are outside the kitchen windows; the front door and window should be reversed; and our front porch is larger.  Other than that, everything measures to the inch.

This was taken sometime in 2009 after a large pecan tree fell on the house.  You can see the amount of "stuff" all over the place though as well as how much potential it has.

  1. Gosh your house has SO improved in your most recent post compared to these photos! You've really come a long way in neatening up the outside and making the house look adorable :)

    1. It's amazing what happens when you start getting rid of things the former Mrs. did, and start making a house your home. It's been such a joy to watch the little transformations happen.
